About Wadadli Riders - Surf Music Kings Of The Caribbean

Wadadli Riders are the only surf band ever born and active in the Caribbean ("Wadadli" is the ancient name of the island of Antigua).

Formed on 2005 by a trio of musicians with much experience in the surf music business, they originally started presenting a show dedicated to surf tunes from the 60s and a few surf-revisited rock 'n' roll classics. The band soon evolved adding original compositions to the set list and creating a more defined identity for themselves.

After a few changes in the line-up and working with several supporting musicians, Lorenzo & Niki Valdambrini have been since the beginning the base of Wadadli Riders, with Lorenzo switching between drums and guitar.

Mostly instrumental, the set list also includes a few vocal songs showcasing Niki's fantastic voice and presence on stage. It is a very fast and exciting show, strongly maintaining the typical aspects of classic surf music (spring reverb, fender guitars and surf beat tempo) with a touch of Caribbean ingredients.

Wadadli Riders have produced an EP of 3 songs on 2008, Surf Music Kings Of The Caribbean (presently sold out), and a full album on 2009, Made In Antigua, released on CD and Vinyl (Surfer Joe Music - Italy, Green Cookie Records - Greece), that has received very good reviews from all the surf music related sources. The vinyl version of Made In Antigua also includes "Rockula", originally a song from Los Straitjackets, recorded live in Italy and featuring the worldwide famous Daddy-O Grande on guitar (www.daddyogrande.com, www.straitjackets.com). On April 2010 Wadadli Riders and Reverend Hank (from the band Urban Surf Kings - Canada) have released a 5 songs EP titled Rev Hank Meets Wadadli Riders (Reverb Ranch & Surfer Joe Music). A new full album is currently in production to be ready and available by the end of 2010.

Besides the local shows in Antigua, Wadadli Riders have played many shows in Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Germany) and have been touring with Daddy-O Grande on August 2008 in Italy and California and on April 2010 in Antigua. The band has participated to 2 editions of the Surfer Joe Summer Festival (2008 and 2009), which is the biggest surf music event in the world, has been the main act at the Hawaiian Night of the Summer Jamboree Festival 2008 (Senigallia - Italy) performing in front of 8.000 people, and has been sharing the stage with other well known surf bands from everywhere (Madeira - US, Insect Surfers - US, Bradipos IV - Italy, Los Straitjackets - US, Pollo Del Mar - US, Kilaueas - Germany, Twang Marvels - Germany, and more).

Wadadli Riders are planning new tours for the season 2010-2011: California on August 2010, participating to the Surf Guitar 101 Convention; Spain and Germany on August 2010; various Caribbean islands and countries (St. Marteen, Puerto Rico, Trinidad) throughout the season 2010-2011; South Florida on January 2011; Argentina, Chile and Brazil on August 2011; Italy on July 2011.
